Attention adrenaline junkies! KWB’s skyscraper abseil returns in 2023

The KWB charity abseil down The Bank skyscraper in Birmingham city centre is back for 2023 – only this time it will be higher!

On Friday 30th June 2023, we’ll be challenging fundraisers to reach new heights by descending The Bank’s Tower 2, one of Birmingham city centre’s tallest residential buildings at 33 storeys and over 100 metres tall.

Organisers of KWB charity abseil: Solomon Phagania - Concierge at The Bank, Steve Rudge - Dolomite Training, Jo Spencer - KWB Office Manager, Jason Osborn - KWB Residential Property Manager

All money raised will go to Birmingham charity Edward’s Trust, which supports bereaved families across the West Midlands.

The event follows the success of our last abseil in 2019 on The Bank’s 21-storey, 70-metre-tall Tower 1. Sixty daredevils took part, raising more than £22,000 for Edward’s Trust.

Organiser Jo Spencer, KWB’s office manager, said: “The KWB charity abseil down Tower 1 in 2019 was an incredible success with not one person dropping out, but sadly the pandemic meant we had to delay any future events.

“Next year, the event will return with a bang as we challenge fundraisers to the extra 30 metres and see if they can raise even more for this vital charity.

“A maximum of 70 people can take part in the event, which will be managed by Dolomite Training and no experience is needed. I urge anyone interested to contact me as soon as possible to reserve your place.”

Lucy Goodway, Engagement Manager at Edward’s Trust, added: “After a four-year break, we’re delighted that KWB has decided to host another fantastic abseil to support us.

“If you’re thinking of setting yourself a new challenge for 2023, please do it as there is no feeling like it!  Yes, it’s nerve wracking and scary, but the sense of achievement when your feet touch the ground is unbelievable.

“A challenge like this may be the scariest thing you’ve ever done, but it doesn’t even come close to the journey that so many of our Edward’s Trust families go through after the loss of a loved one. “
