First arrivals will include Mercian Surgical Supply Co Ltd, which has purchased a 5,130 sq ft unit at the 12-acre site (4.85 hectare) on a freehold basis. As a leading supplier of high quality surgical instruments and equipment to UK hospitals, Mercian Surgical has chosen to relocate its UK headquarters from Birmingham to Topaz.

Additionally, a national firm of actuaries and consultants, Barnett Waddingham LLP, has taken a lease on a 10,000 sq ft unit at Topaz as one of its seven offices throughout the UK.

Speaking of the development, commercial property agent KWB which is marketing the scheme said, “Topaz is proving a real draw for UK businesses looking for high quality office accommodation in a central location.”

“The site has been designed to appeal to a broad range of businesses and it is perfect for local companies looking for a prestigious headquarters or national firms keen to acquire a regional office.

“Nothing can compare with Topaz locally because it offers contemporary design and a high level specification in a mature, rural setting. This, combined with its prime location at the heart of the country at Junction 1 of the M42 and close to the M5, makes it a natural choice for progressive firms.

“Topaz also adds great value to the area in terms of jobs and economic prosperity.”

In total, 10 high specification units are currently under construction at the site which is being developed by Topaz M42 LLP a joint venture between Worcestershire-based property developers and investors Maximus in conjunction with Simon Corner’s new property company Aequusland Ltd.

Every open plan unit has been cleverly designed to allow further sub division if required. Additionally, each office incorporates ‘punch panels’ at both ground and first floor level to enable adjoining units to be easily merged.

Parking at Topaz is plentiful with allocated car parking for 174 vehicles. Construction commenced on site at the start of November and it is due for completion in August 2010.

Denis Duffy managing director of Mercian Surgical Supply said: “Mercian Surgical has long been associated with high quality products and Topaz is no exception.

“We considered many alternatives during our search for new premises but always returned to Topaz as our preferred first choice. Topaz will provide our company with an adaptable working environment in an excellent location and its quality will reflect that of our business.”

For Mike Rachman, partner at Barnett Waddingham LLP, the scheme’s superb accessibility was a deciding factor.

“We chose Topaz because we were looking for a prestigious site, close to our current location that could cater for both our immediate and long term business needs.

“We were impressed by the scheme’s proximity to the motorway network, making it easily accessible for staff and clients. We also liked the mix of stylish design and green technologies within a rural setting.

“We have ambitious growth plans and we’re looking to double our 50-strong team within the next five years. We see Topaz as an ideal location from which to achieve this aim.”
