The building, which has been taken back to its frame, will have the floorplate extended from 1st to 4th floor level, the existing central atrium removed and a brand new floor constructed at 5th floor level.

35 Newhall Street is located at the junction of Newhall Street and Cornwall Street in Birmingham city centre. The external cladding to both frontages has been removed with new contemporary mainly glazed elevations being constructed instead.

The new building will total 54,810 sq ft net with a floorplate of circa 10,000 sq ft and 29 on-site car parking spaces. The new building will be some 16,000 sq ft net larger than it was previously.

Alfred McAlpine has been awarded the building contract and CBRE, together with KWB, have been instructed to market the new office building. Completion of the work is programmed for March 2007.

Nigel Tripp of KWB commented “When the scaffolding is taken down I am sure people will be delighted with the building’s transformation into contemporary headquarters offices. The building is being completed to a Grade ‘A’ specification to include 4 pipe fan coil air conditioning, raised access flooring and quality finishes throughout. The building is located within the prime office sector of the city and we are confident that tenant interest will be strong. Marketing has not yet formally commenced and we have already had approaches from a number of interested parties.”
