Blazing a trail for new HQ

The Service has moved into its new base at 2 Kings Court in Worcester – close to the new Worcester Royal Hospital and junction 6 of the M5. However, getting to the stage where the Fire Service owned the building was not as straightforward as it might at first appear.

The building was owned by Taylor Clark Properties and leased to the Reality Group Limited. Whilst the building became available on a leasehold basis, KWB was aware that the Fire and Rescue Authority was seeking a freehold purchase and liaised with Taylor Clark Properties to establish if this was possible. Once all parties agreed to the lease assignment and freehold purchase, KWB provided support and advice to ensure timescales were aligned and the complex process was a success.

Lucy Tye is Director of Corporate Services for the Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service: “Whilst far from a straightforward transaction, it was a pleasure to work with the KWB team who made it feel as if it was a pretty normal process. Having identified the building we wanted, it was a case of making it possible for us to have it. We are delighted with the way things worked out and now we are here, we know we have an excellent new home, providing modern, efficient facilities for our staff, from which to co-ordinate our operations for the years ahead.”
