Instruction

Due to YAZAKI’s rapid expansion and increased volumes of business, KWB was instructed to find new offices on the east side of Coventry, and project manage the office design, fit out and move management. However, it soon became very apparent that there was a severe shortage of existing good quality office space in this part of the Midlands. After much consideration, and thinking laterally, we negotiated with the landlord the refurbishment of their existing 8,000 sq ft offices, as well as the construction of 4,000 sq ft of new build office space.

Planning

While KWB’s office acquisition team negotiated the occupational lease and the agreement to lease, KWB Workplace project managed the office design, space planning, procurement of furniture and fit out, and complete move management. Working hand-in-hand, KWB’s approach optimised the use of the office space, saving their client executive time and generating substantial savings on their occupational costs.

Fit out and move management

What made this office relocation different and testing, was the logistics of moving YAZAKI into temporary office space – or ‘swing space’ – in an adjacent vacant office building, whilst extension and fit out work was being carried out. Once structural work had been completed, fit out works could begin, including the installation of new desks, lighting, furniture and carpets. Following quality checks of fit out works, the Yazaki workforce was then moved from their temporary offices back into, an extended and refitted, Brandon Court.
