Double deal with Space Station self-storage

KWB has completed its second deal with self-storage business Space Station, bringing another new storage facility to the Midlands.

Kenny Allan, Director of KWB Industrial Agency, has sold a vacant 69,154 sq ft warehouse on Garretts Green Lane in Birmingham, situated on a 2.43-acre site. The deal follows a land sale to the same occupier at Castle Bromwich Trade Park on Chester Road, where construction of a 12,000 sq ft, five-storey building is now close to completion.

The two new units take Space Station’s nationwide portfolio up to 18 locations, seven of which are in the Midlands.

These new Midlands self-storage units will offer storage for personal and business needs on a long- and short-term basis, as well as on-site parking. A total of up to six new jobs will be created at these facilities.

Stephen Wilson, Head of Real Estate at Space Station, said: “We’re thrilled to have secured this site at Garretts Green with KWB. The team really have their finger on the pulse of the Midlands market.

“Work will begin on our new Garretts Green site in June. The project will deliver a 95,000 GIA sq ft facility made up of an extensive range of self-storage units.

“The Castle Bromwich site is due to open in August.”

Growing self-storage offering

Kenny Allan added: “Both the Castle Bromwich and Garretts Green sites were vacant so it’s great to see them coming back into use with Space Station.

“They are both in excellent locations close to Birmingham city centre, with easy access to the national motorway network. The units also benefit from great roadside visibility in sought-after areas.”

Other Space Station facilities in the Midlands are in Hall Green, Kings Heath, Shrewsbury, Solihull and Stirchley. The self-storage specialist has invested heavily into expansion since global real estate investment firm, Heitman, acquired the brand in October 2020.
