KWB coast to coast

Members of the KWB commercial property team are to cycle a coast to coast (C2C) route along Hadrian’s wall from Silloth in the North West to South Shields in the North East in aid of Dementia UK.

The journey chosen by KWB is on National Route 72 of the National Cycle Network. Roughly following Hadrian’s wall across the country, it stretches 111.8 miles from the Silloth at the coast of the Irish Sea to South Shields at the coast of the North Sea.

If you’d like to contribute to KWB’s fundraising efforts for Dementia UK, details on how to sponsor the team can be found on our JustGiving page.

The KWB team includes: Mark Robinson, Toby Barnett, Martin Cook, Mark Lenton, John Bryce, Akim Kamangira, Jon Tedstone, Ben Mitchell and Ben Voss Wood.

Ben Voss Wood, of KWB’s industrial agency, said: “Following on after the success of the ‘Bike on Track’ ride we did along the HS2 route for Woodlands Adventure two years ago, we were keen to undertake another sponsored cycle fundraiser. We wanted an opportunity to ‘give back’, and the team generally felt it was time to for us all to get back on our bikes!

“I’m currently training 2-3 times a week for the ride – for some members of the team, it may be a bit less than that! However, with a bit of luck, we’ll all pass the finish line and raise both awareness and vital funds for a much-needed charity.”

The KWB team will be split into two sub-teams, with one cycling the full length of the route, from Silloth to South Shields, and the other team beginning at the halfway mark – cycling just over 50 miles – from Haltwhistle to the final destination of South Shields.

The ride will take place on Saturday 11th August 2018.

Managing Director of KWB, John Bryce, said: “The costs, for Dementia UK, involved in providing Admiral Nurses to dementia sufferers and their families are significant, but the help they provide is invaluable.

“Their great work must continue, and that is why we would like to encourage our peers in the Birmingham corporate world to donate to this event. In doing so, they’ll be making a great contribution to what is becoming a scourge of modern life.”
