The daily cleaning sector in 2026: Challenges, change and our commitment
As we move through 2026, the daily cleaning sector is going through one of the most significant periods of change in its history.
Jim Duffy, Managing Director of Birmingham-based KWB Corporate Cleaning, gives his insights on this important sector within the office, industrial, education and healthcare cleaning industry.
What was once seen as a behind-the-scenes service is now recognised as a frontline function – critical to health and wellbeing, productivity, compliance and reputation. With that shift comes real challenges, but also a clear opportunity for the sector to raise standards.
At KWB Corporate Cleaning, we think itâs important to be honest about what the industry is facing, whatâs changing, and how weâre responding so clients continue to receive a reliable, high-quality service they can trust.

The challenges facing the daily cleaning sector
Firstly: People
The most pressing challenge is workforce stability. Labour shortages, high turnover and rising wage pressures are affecting the sector across the board.
Cleaning is skilled, physical work – and for too long it has been undervalued. Without stable, well-trained teams, consistency and quality inevitably suffer.
Secondly: Expectations have changed
In 2026, âcleanâ is no longer subjective. Clients want evidence, transparency and accountability. Digital reporting, visible standards and fast response times are increasingly expected – and in many settings, essential.
Thirdly: Operating costs are rising
Sustainable products, compliance requirements, insurance, equipment and technology all carry cost. At the same time, the commercial cleaning market remains highly competitive, and pricing pressure can tempt some providers to cut corners. That rarely ends well for service quality, for staff or for clients.
Finally: Sustainability is now the baseline
Environmental responsibility is no longer optional. Regulations are tightening and organisations want cleaning partners who align with ESG commitments in practice, not just in policy statements.
These pressures arenât going away. The question isnât whether the daily cleaning sector will change but who is prepared to lead that change.
Whatâs changing and whatâs coming next
The industry is moving towards greater professionalisation. Technology will play a bigger role – not to replace people, but to support them. Data-led quality control, smarter scheduling and clearer communication will increasingly become standard, not âadded valueâ.
Weâre also seeing a shift away from purely transactional service delivery towards partnership-based contracts with clients demanding a supplier who understands their building, risks and operational pressures.
Most importantly, the sector must rethink how it values its workforce. The providers who succeed will be those investing in training, stability and respect because high-quality commercial cleaning starts with motivated, supported people.
What we are doing at KWB Corporate Cleaning
Weâre investing in our people
That means structured training, clear expectations, consistent teams and a culture built on accountability and respect. Stable teams deliver better outcomes, stronger relationships and fewer issues for clients.
Weâve embedded transparency and quality assurance
Regular site audits, clear reporting and proactive review meetings help ensure clients know whatâs being delivered – and that standards are maintained day after day, not just at mobilisation.
Our operations are supported by internationally recognised ISO standards:
- ISO 9001 â Quality Management
- ISO 45001 â Occupational Health & Safety
- ISO 14001 â Environmental Management
These frameworks demonstrate that our quality, safety and environmental practices are independently verified and formally governed.
Sustainability is built into our service
We use responsible products, efficient cleaning methods and waste-reduction approaches that support environmental goals – while also contributing to healthier indoor environments.
We prioritise long-term partnerships
We work closely with clients to understand changing needs, adapt services and resolve issues early. Daily cleaning isnât just about appearance – itâs about trust, reliability and consistency.
Our commitment going forward
The daily cleaning sector in 2026 demands higher standards, greater transparency and stronger leadership. At KWB Corporate Cleaning, we see that as an opportunity to raise the bar.
Our commitment is simple:
- To deliver dependable, high-quality cleaning
- To support and value the people who do the work
- To operate responsibly and sustainably
- To be a partner clients can rely on in an increasingly complex environment
Change is happening – and KWB Corporate Cleaning is ready for it.
