Edward’s Trust
Edward’s Trust is KWB’s chosen charity for 2019-2021. The charity, based in Edgbaston, Birmingham, was set up over 30 years ago to help local families suffering bereavement.
Focused on the West Midlands, Edward’s Trust provides support for bereaved parents, as well as children and young people for the loss of a parent, significant carer or sibling.
To deliver this support, Edward’s Trust requires £600,000 per annum and KWB will endeavour to help the charity reach its annual funding target in 2020 and 2021 – as it did in 2019.
Bereavement support
Edward’s Trust takes a holistic approach to its work, providing compassionate and responsive support that is tailored and meaningful to each individual.
Beneficiaries facing loss and surviving bereavement are supported in their grief through:
- Counselling
- Wellbeing therapies
- Support groups
- Social activities
- Respite bereavement care retreats
- Remembrance services
- Pre-bereavement support
Off to a great start
KWB has done pro-bono property work for Edward’s Trust for a number of years but began fundraising for the charity in 2019, when both organisations celebrated their 30th anniversaries.
The relationship was kicked off with a major fundraiser, which saw many KWB team members, clients and suppliers abseil down Tower 1 of The Bank. By tackling the 189-apartment block, which stretches nearly 70 metres into the sky, participants managed to raise £22,327.50.
Lucy Goodway, Engagement Manager for Edward’s Trust, said: “KWB made a significant difference to our 30th anniversary events last year and were one of our top corporate fundraisers, thanks to the abseil they organised.”
Our charity of choice
Director of KWB, John Bryce, said: “We’re proud to be supporting a longstanding, local charity doing such great work. It was almost serendipitous that both KWB and Edward’s Trust were formed in the same year.
“The impact of this kind of grief is something that many of us will struggle to comprehend. However, by supporting a charity that does understand, and can provide the right support, we can help to reduce that impact and improve the quality of life for those that suffer such a loss.“
Edward’s Trust is a registered charity No: 1105370
